Jewellery valuations
W. Carter and Son has so many years of experience in the jewellery trade. You can trust us to provide an accurate and professional valuation of your precious items.
W. Carter and Son offer a comprehensive range of valuation services which include valuations for Insurance purposes, Open market valuations, Probate Valuations, Private Sale and Divorce/Family division.
Our valuations meet the prescribed standards and include:
- Detailed description
- Details of the assessment of diamonds
- Hallmarking information
- Condition statement
- Provenance of research, if appropriate
- Visual images
- Values with the appropriate type of insurance qualification
The valuations are carried out in-house by our team of valuers and gemmologists, both of which are holders of the coveted Diploma from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and both of which are Fellows of the association. Our head valuer is a Fellow and Founding member of The Jewellery Valuers Association, Fellow of The Institute of Registered Valuers and a Fellow of The National Association of Jewellers.
Your pieces are fully insured by ourselves whilst left with us for valuation. After assessing your pieces, a written certificate of valuation is issued based on their current market values.
Our Fees
Insurance Valuations:
- £85.00 for the first item (minimum charge)
- £55.00 per item thereafter
- Any single item valued over £4,000.00 will be charged at 1.5% of the value
Probate Valuations:
- £100.00 for the first item (minimum charge)
- £45.00 per item thereafter
For more information on valuations and the types of valuation most appropriate for your needs, please contact us. We recommend, as do most insurance companies, that your valuable items are brought to us for evaluation at least once every five years.
